Instagram follower analysis

Instagram Unfollowers

Follower Change helps you analyze Instagram follower data to understand current follower relationships and compare snapshots for changes over time — without handing your Instagram password to a third-party tracker.

No Instagram password required.

Current analysis

Compare today's followers against today's following to see who doesn't follow you back.

Historical comparison

Compare two snapshots to find accounts present before but absent later.

01

What Are Instagram Unfollowers?

For this product, an “unfollower” in historical analysis means an account that appears in a previous follower snapshot and does not appear in a later follower snapshot:

lostAccounts = previousFollowers − currentFollowers

The data shows that the account disappeared between the supplied snapshots. It does not prove that the account intentionally unfollowed you. Possible explanations can include account deactivation, account changes, export differences, or other changes affecting the supplied follower data.

The tool reports the change and stops there — it does not speculate about individual users' motives.

How Instagram Unfollower Tracking Works

  1. Obtain your Instagram follower/following data.
  2. Upload the supported files to Follower Change.
  3. The browser parses and normalizes the account data.
  4. Current lists are compared when using current analysis.
  5. Two follower snapshots are compared when using historical analysis.
  6. The results are displayed and can be exported as CSV.

What Follower Change does not do: connect to your Instagram, log into Instagram through the tool, monitor your account, track unfollows automatically, or offer real-time Instagram tracking. None of those are part of the current product. For the technical picture behind these distinctions, see how unfollower trackers work.

04

Instagram Unfollowers Without a Password

Many follower trackers ask for your Instagram login. Follower Change takes the opposite approach: you provide the follower data yourself, and the analysis happens on your own device.

Follower analysis runs in your browser. The tool does not send the uploaded follower data to a server for analysis.

The tool does not require:

  • Instagram password
  • 2FA code
  • session cookies
  • access token

How to See Instagram Unfollowers

Step 1 — Get your Instagram follower data

Export your own Instagram follower and following data through Instagram's official export. How to export your Instagram followers. Follower Change does not retrieve it automatically.

Step 2 — Keep snapshots for historical comparison

If the goal is to identify follower changes, retain an earlier snapshot and obtain another later snapshot.

Step 3 — Upload to Follower Change

Open the analyzer and select the appropriate analysis mode: Current Analysis (provide followers in the “Followers” slot and following in the “Following” slot) or Historical Comparison (provide an earlier snapshot in the “Previous follower snapshot” slot and a later one in the “Current follower snapshot” slot). Supported formats are .json, .html, .htm, and .zip.

Step 4 — Review the results

For historical comparison, review lost, new, and retained follower groups. For current analysis, review non-followers, mutuals, and followers you don't follow back.

06

Instagram Unfollowers vs. Instagram Non-Followers

Instagram unfollowers

A historical concept. It requires previous followers plus current followers, and calculates:

previousFollowers − currentFollowers

Question: who was present before but is absent now? Who unfollowed me?

Instagram non-followers

A current relationship. It requires current followers plus current following, and calculates:

following − followers

Question: who do I currently follow that isn't following me back? Who doesn't follow me back?

07

Why One Snapshot Isn't Enough to Find Historical Unfollowers

One current follower list can tell you about current relationships, but it cannot reconstruct historical follower changes. For historical analysis, two snapshots are required.

Illustrative example — not real user data.

January snapshot

  • @alice
  • @bob
  • @charlie

February snapshot

  • @alice
  • @charlie

Historical result: @bob appears as a lost follower. The change occurred sometime between the snapshots — the data does not establish the exact date @bob stopped following.

What Instagram Unfollower Trackers Cannot Tell You

Snapshot comparison is a limited lens. It cannot establish:

  • the exact reason an account disappeared
  • the exact time of a follower change
  • whether an account intentionally unfollowed
  • whether an account was temporarily unavailable
  • what another user is privately doing on Instagram
  • private profile information not contained in the supplied data

Follower Change is a comparison tool for data you own — not a window into anyone else's activity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Instagram unfollowers?

In Follower Change's historical analysis, an unfollower is an account that appears in a previous follower snapshot but not in a later one: lostAccounts = previousFollowers − currentFollowers. The data shows the account disappeared between the supplied snapshots; it does not prove the person intentionally unfollowed you.

Can Follower Change show who unfollowed me on Instagram?

It can show which accounts disappeared between two follower snapshots you provide. That identifies a follower change, not the reason behind it — deactivation, account changes, and export differences are also possible explanations.

Do I need my Instagram password?

No. The analyzer works from Instagram follower data that you export and upload yourself. It does not need your Instagram password, two-factor authentication code, session cookies, or access token, and it will never ask for them.

Does Follower Change access my Instagram account?

No. Follower Change cannot access your Instagram account, log into it, or monitor it in real time. There is no account connection step — you provide the data files, and analysis happens in your browser.

What's the difference between an unfollower and a non-follower?

An unfollower is a historical concept: an account present in a previous snapshot but absent from a current one. A non-follower is a current relationship: an account in your following list that isn't in your current follower list. They answer different questions and need different data.

Do I need two follower snapshots?

Only for historical questions. Identifying follower changes requires a previous and a current snapshot. Finding current non-followers needs just one current followers list plus one current following list.

Can I see exactly when someone unfollowed me?

No. A snapshot comparison can only place a change sometime between the two snapshots — for example, present in a January snapshot and absent in a February one. The exact day or time cannot be established from the data.

Can I export Instagram follower analysis results?

Yes. In the analyzer, each result list has an Export CSV button that downloads the complete list — non-followers, mutuals, followers you don't follow back, new followers, accounts no longer present, and retained followers.
